Important Terms
AQEEDAH
To believe with firm conviction. It means what you believe ABOUT what you believe IN. What you believe about Allaah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, The Last Day/Day Of Resurrection, and belief in Qadr, the good of it and the evil of it.
TAWHEED
From the root word waahid or "one". Tawheed is to make something one. In the Islaamic sense it only applies to Allaah. It means only Allaah deserves worship. Only Allaah is Rabb (Lord) and only Allaah should be called upon. When HE is called upon it must be by the Names HE and HIS Messenger salla llaahu 'alayhi was sallam have informed us of.
On the matter of Tawheed:
- It's a noun and the name of our Aqeedah
- In Islaam it represents the belief that something is unique and singular
- It actually requires you to believe in two things at the same time
- You believe one thing to be true
- You believe another thing to not be true
Inshaa' Allaah, if time permits we will begin to cover the three categories of Tawheed.
- Tawheed Ruboobeeyah (Only One Lord over everything)
- Tawheed Ulooheeyah (Only One worthy of any worship)
- Tawheed Asmaa wa Siffat (Only One to be called by HIS Names and Attributes)
